Beer delivery man shot during robbery

A beer delivery man was shot while working during a recent robbery attempt at a retail establishment north of Fort Worth in Tarrant County near Texas Highway 199. Authorities say that the delivery man was shot in the neck during the attempt. Authorities believe they have apprehended the shooter, who is also implicated in the shooting of a man during an attempted mugging, and firing shots at a Lowe's employee who was also on duty. The beer delivery man remains in critical condition.

Construction worker injured in Corsicana incident

A construction worker was injured while working on the job in an incident near Corsicana, Texas. The worker was part of a road crew working to improve an exit ramp of I-45 near the city when a car drove dangerously close to the crew and off the roadway. Debris from the side of the road was kicked up as a result of the car's proximity, and hit the worker, injuring him. Two workers killed, two injured in construction accident in Lewisville

Two workers were killed and two other workers were injured in a construction accident in Lewisville this week. The accident occurred at a park-and-ride station that was under construction on Lakeside Circle, just off Hebron Parkway. The four workers were spreading concrete when the boom of a concrete truck collapsed on top of them. Investigators have preliminarily determine the cause of the accident to be "equipment failure." The two surviving workers incurred injuries to their legs, and are expected to recover.

Walmart worker dies from injuries sustained while trying to stop shoplifter

A Walmart employee has died of injuries he sustained when he attempted to stop a shoplifter. Bruce Florence was working in the lawn and garden department at the Westworth Village Walmart in when he spotted a man trying to run out of the store with a television. Mr. Florence stepped in front of the thief, but was knocked to the ground. He suffered a severe head injury in the incident, and later died of his injuries.

Lancaster police officer killed in line of duty

A Lancaster police officer was killed in the line of duty this weekend. Officer Craig Shaw, a five-year veteran of the Lancaster police force, was shot and killed after he was called to the scene of an apartment complex in the 900 block of River Bend Drive near West Pleasant Run Road in southern Dallas county. The shooter, David Brown, Jr., had previously shot and killed a man before Officer Shaw arrived. Officer Shaw attempted to keep Brown from fleeing the scene when Brown opened fire on him. Other police soon joined in the struggle. Officer Shaw and Brown were both killed in the conflict.

Firefighter hurt in Grapevine trailer park fire

A firefighter was injured in the line of duty today while battling a blaze at a trailer park in Grapevine. Firefighters were called very early Friday morning to the trailer park in the 400 block of N. Scribner Street. The firefighter suffered scrapes and burns, and is expected to make a full recovery. A three year old boy was also hurt in the fire. The child was taken to Children's Medical Center in Dallas for treatment.

Drivers hurt in two-truck crash

Two semi-trailer drivers were injured when their rigs collided on I-20 in Palo Pinto County. The accident occurred approximately 4 miles west of the intersection of I-20 and U.S. 281. Authorities believe that one trucker fell asleep, veered into the center median and then over-corrected, causing his truck to overturn on the roadway. The second truck then hit the first truck.

CareFlite crash caused by rotor

A preliminary report says that a recent crash of a CareFlite helicopter was caused when the machine's rotor separated during a flight. Two employees were killed in Midlothian when the helicopter crashed during a test flight. The main rotor mast of the helicopter separated just below the head while the craft was cruising at about 600 feet. Witnesses reported that they saw the tail boom and rotor separate from the rest of the helicopter during the crash. The workers killed were a pilot and a mechanic.

2 workers killed in natural gas explosion

Two workers were killed in a natural gas explosion in the Texas panhandle. Several other workers were hurt in the blast. Plumbing truck wreck on North Central Expressway

Three dead and several injured in pipeline explosion south of Metroplex

An gas pipeline exploded in Johnson County today, killing three and injuring at least eight. The dead and injured include individuals who were working on the pipeline when the blast occurred. Witnesses reported that they heard a loud explosion and then saw a large cloud of smoke or steam. The injured have been taken to hospitals in Johnson, Somervell and Hood counties. The blast occurred approximately 50 miles south of the DFW Metroplex.

Man dies at drill site in NW Tarrant County

A 25 year old worker was killed at a drill site near Eagle Mountain Lake in NW Tarrant County. The man, Silverio Rubio-Loredo, was working on the west shore of the lake and east of Farm Road 730. He was working in an elevated position when he was fatally struck in the head with a piece of equipment. Rubio-Loredo was employed by Express Energy, a contractor. XTO Energy is the well operator at the site.

Teachers and students sickened by gas leak at school

Two teachers and five students were sickened by a natural gas leak at Crowley Ninth Grade Campus. The gas leak occurred in a science classroom and came from a line designated for use by a Bunsen burner. The teachers and students complained of dizziness and other symptoms, and were transported by ambulances to Hugely Memorial Medical Center for treatment and observation. The campus was evacuated while firefighters located the leak and shut off gas to the affected part of the building.
