Tow truck driver fatally injured

Adam Lopez, a tow truck driver, was fatally injured Wednesday when he was struck while trying to remove a vehicle from I-20 in Eastland County. Mr. Lopez was hit by a pickup truck. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where he died a few hours later.

The Oklahoma Department of Insurance have assumed control of Frisco-based insurer Imperial Casualty and Indemnity Insurance Co. Citing insolvency and a pattern of illegal transactions, Oklahoma seeks to put this insurer in receivership permanently.

Crash of three semis leaves one dead

Three semis and two pickup trucks were involved in a five-vehicle wreck near Cleburne very early Saturday morning. The wreck left the highway shut down hours, and debris was strewn for a quarter mile stretch along Highway 67.

Police say that one semi clipped an oncoming tractor-trailer, forcing the first semi into the path of another big rig. The driver of the first semi was killed instantly. One of the surviving tractor-trailer drivers was taken to the hospital. The drivers of the pickup trucks did not require immediate medical attention.

Texas construction worker killed after building collapses

A Texas man was killed in a construction site accident at Palestine High School on Thursday morning.

The work accident victim, a 26-year-old man whose name has not been released, was working under a portable building which had recently been moved to the PHS campus.

Preliminary investigations into the construction site accident indicate that the ground was saturated because of recent rainfall. As a result, the portable building shifted and fell off of the supporting jacks underneath it, killing the man working beneath the building.

The floor of the portable structure had to be cut in order to reach the victim who was trapped under the building, according to police. Once the work accident victim was reached, he was apparently already deceased.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Pearce Gary Thomas, the Anderson County Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace.

Construction worker killed on the job at Texas work site

A 25-year-old worker was killed at a construction site in Texas Friday afternoon when he was pinned to a sewer main after the walls of the trench he was working in collapsed.

The construction site accident victim was Mexican national Rigoberto Tovar. Around noon on Friday, Tovar was working to install a storm sewer line located approximately 10-feet underground at an intersection in Alamo City, Texas.

At the time of the workplace accident, Tovar was standing in a 6-foot-deep trench. The earthen walls suddenly gave way, knocking Tovar into the sewer main. He was killed instantly.

Tovar was working for M Construction of McAllen when the work accident occurred. The company is a private contractor that was hired by the city of Alamo to complete the road expansion project.

An investigation into the accident is being conducted by OSHA to determine whether all proper safety protocols were followed.

3 Texas men injured in construction site accident

An accident at a Texas construction site on Thursday afternoon left three workers injured. Two were sent to area hospitals.

At the time of the accident, the three workers were setting decking on tresses. The job site was located at Weatherford Ridge Shopping Center. The workplace accident occurred a when a load of plywood shifted, knocking over the tresses.

According to Weatherford Fire Chief George Teague, all three men were injured when the tresses fell.

One suffered only minor injuries, but another worker suffered head injuries and a compound wrist fracture. He was taken to Weatherford Regional Medical Center by air ambulance. The third worker, who was complaining of back pain, was taken to the same hospital via ground ambulance.

Teague says that all three of the men were conscious and talking when rescuers arrived on the scene.

Fort Worth, Texas, worker killed in workplace accident at Dannon Yogurt plant

On February 13th, a worker at Dannon’s yogurt plant located in the medical district of Forth Worth, Texas, became trapped in some machinery. The victim, Tri Tran of Fort Worth, suffered head and chest injuries in his workplace accident. He died six days later as a result of those injuries, according to a statement released by the Tarrant County medical examiner’s office.

Tran worked for the plant as a maintenance mechanic. He became pinned near the ceiling by a scissor lift, which is an electronically controlled platform that’s used for changing light bulbs.

At this point, it remains unclear whether the workplace accident was caused by an equipment failure or some other factor.

OSHA has begun its investigation into the fatal workplace accident, but, says agency spokeswoman Elizabeth Todd, no details will be released while the investigation is ongoing.

According to Dannon spokesman Michael Neuwirth, the company does not have conclusive evidence about what happened. The company is, along with OSHA, conducting an investigation into what caused Tran’s entrapment and blunt force injury.

The medical examiner’s office has said that there is no evidence that foul play was involved in the work accident.
