The Occupational Safety and Health Administration recently fined Grapevine-based Fore Machine Co. more than $70,000 for failing to adequately protect its workers from potentially harmful exposure to lead. Fore is a machined parts manufacturer, and the alleged violations occurred at its Haltom City facility. Violations include failing to provide respiratory protection to workers, failure to medically evaluate workers and inadequate training on the use of respirators.
OSHA standards are implemented in order to protect workers from on the job injuries and job-related illnesses. Exposure to high levels of lead can damage the brain and other organs.
