D/FW American Airlines Passenger Lands In Hot Water

Dallas Police have cited Kurt Krueger, 62, of Pensacola Beach, Florida, with disorderly conduct after Krueger followed an American Airlines employee, Bernard Amoateng, into a restroom, berated him, and purportedly pushed the AA representative. A witness attested to the fact that a confrontation took place and that Krueger raised his voice, however, he was not able to confirm that a physical altercation took place.

It’s important to note that Mr. Krueger likely faces civil charges in addition to a possible criminal investigation. Have you been confronted, threatened or accosted by an irate citizen? If so, you may have a viable civil cause of action, too. To find out more about tort liability, contact the personal injury experts at Fears | Nachawati. North Texas Firefighter Killed in Line of Duty

Greg Simmons, a volunteer firefighter from Eastland, died last week by what autopsy examiners described as “an accidental blow to his upper torso.” For the time being, Texas Department of Public Safety officials don’t know if Simmons died in a truck crash or if he was fatally injured getting out of the vehicle. Commenting on the investigation, the Eastland Justice of the Peace also explained that Simmons was also overcome by smoke before falling into the ditch where his body was ultimately found.

Despite advances in technology, fighting fires remains a dangerous and sometimes fatal profession. If you or a loved one is a firefighter, you should be aware of the risks that you face in the line of duty. What if you’re injured? What kind of injuries are you most likely to sustain? What if you’re killed? These questions are important and the law often provides valuable instruction as to the possible answers.

We can help you figure out the answers to these difficult questions. For more information, contact the Fears | Nachawati professionals today. Just call 1.866.705.7584 or send an email to info@fnlawfirm.com. We can help you!

Does the Rowlett Arsonist Face Civil Liability?

Last weekend, Rowlett Police detained a man suspected of intentionally starting several fires since October of last year. With bond set at $100,000 for the suspect, known only as “Reid,” experts suspect that he may be responsible for tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage.

The Rowlett Arsonist case raises an important question: does Reid face civil liability in addition to criminal charges? Yes, if a civil court determines that the suspect did set DFW homes and buildings on fire, he will face financial and legal responsibility for the result of his actions.

Southwest High School Student Dies in After School Fight

Jose Guzman, 16, died suddenly and tragically last week in a street fight with another student. During the fight, Guzman collapsed; he was pronounced dead when he arrived at a nearby hospital soon after.

The student who fought with Guzman, an unidentified 15-year-old, could face civil charges in addition to criminal charges. American tort law’s ‘eggshell skull rule’ makes clear that a tortfeasor (that is, one who commits a tort) is liable for all consequences resulting from his tortuous actions leading to injury, even if the victim suffers a usually high level of damage.

What does the eggshell skull rule mean for your tort liability? What other aspects of tort law do you need to know? Fortunately, the experts at Fears | Nachawati are ready to answer these questions about personal injury law and many, many more. For a free consultation, call us at 1.866.705.7584 or send an email to info@fnlawfirm.com.

18-Wheelers Collide in Allen, Burst into Flames

On Saturday, two 18-wheelers passing through Allen on Central Expressway collided, bursting into flames. Although traffic delays were severe as a result, fortunately, no one was injured in the accident.

Carrying 80,000 pounds and often driven by under-trained, over-worked drivers, big rigs are dangerous to passenger vehicles. Although the accident in Allen didn’t result in traffic fatalities, that’s not always the case. Tragically, 18-wheelers cause thousands of highway deaths every year.

If you’re involved in a Dallas highway accident, call the personal injury experts at Fears | Nachawati. Our experience and expertise will give you the advantage you need whether you’re dealing with a belligerent trucking company, insurance agent or fellow driver.
