Manager injured in assisted living center fire

The manager of an assisted living center in Dallas was injured in a recent fire. The fire broke out in the third-story apartment of one of the center's residents. The manager was working with others to clear the building when he encountered the unit where the fire was blazing. After opening the door and crawling into the unit, the manager was able to help the man in the unit, a double leg amputee, into his wheelchair and to safety. The manager suffered smoke inhalation and minor burns, but is expected to make a full recovery.

Cook injured in kitchen fire

A cook was injured in a kitchen fire at a lower Greenville restaurant last week. Investigators report that the cook was preparing food over a gas range when some grease apparently caught fire. The cook acted quickly and extinguished the blaze, keeping it confined to the stove area. He suffered second degree burns on one arm, and is expected to make a full recovery.
