Trucker killed in wreck with train in South Texas

The driver of a tractor-trailer was killed earlier this week when his truck was struck by a train in Liberty County, near Houston. Authorities report that a Union Pacific train collided with the truck near the intersection of County Road 622 and FM 1960. The train engineer blew the train's horn before the collision. The truck driver was pronounced dead at the scene. None of the workers on the train were physically injured. The train was not carrying any hazardous materials, and authorities are continuing to investigate the incident.

Man shot to death in North Dallas business tower

A man who had apparently been shot to death was recently found in a North Dallas business tower. The man was found in an office near the Dallas Galleria in the 13400 block of Dallas Parkway. Gas leak injures one

One worker person was injured during a gas leak in east Fort Worth. The leak prompted evacuation of a nearby businesses Monday afternoon. Crews from Atmos Energy and the Fort Worth water utility worked to stop the leak, and succeeded after about two hours. Three workers injured in acid spill in Garland

Three workers were injured in an acid spill at a Garland chemical manufacturing plant earlier this week. Investigators reported that the workers were cleaning tanks as part of a changeover operation in the manufacturing area when the acid was spilled. Two of the workers came into contact with the acid by skin, while the third worker grew ill after inhaling fumes. All three were treated at Baylor Hospital.

Over 200 workers suffering from oil exposure so far

Rookie Dallas cop accidentally shot by veteran officer

A rookie Dallas police officer was accidentally by a veteran member of the force at a house in West Dallas. The incident occurred when the officers were searching an abandoned house for a robbery suspect. Authorities say that there was no power inside the house and it was difficult to see. The veteran officer may have become startled and fired, thinking he was involved in a confrontation with a suspect. Two flight instructors killed in crash

Two Arlington-based flight instructors and one other person were killed when the single-engine plane they were riding in crashed in Hood County this week. The instructors worked for Skymates flight school in Arlington. The passenger was the brother of one of the instructors. A witness reported that the plane's engine sounded rough immediately before the small plane nosedived. The plane crashed in Tovar, a community about 45 miles southwest of the DFW Metroplex.
