Austin Accident a Warning for Dallas Drivers

Motorcyclists from across Texas and around the country descended on Austin’s famed 6th Street last weekend to celebrate the Republic of Texas (ROT) Rally. Tragically, however, what was supposed to be a celebration of motorcycle riding was fatal for three motorcycle drivers in three separate Austin-area accidents.

Unfortunately, fatal motorcycle accidents are simply all too common. Reckless driving on the part of cyclists and motorists as well as the immutable danger associated with riding a motorcycle frequently result in serious injuries and fatalities.

High Speed Car Accident Causes Wrongful Death

As incredible as it sounds, Soraya Villanueva thought it was a good idea to drive 70 miles per hour down a residential street that had a posted speed limit 35 miles per hour. Confronting a yellow light, Villanueva didn’t decide to slow down, but speed up. Moments after punching the accelerator, Villanueva’s car struck 17-year-old Riley Rawlins, killing him.

The death of Riley isn’t simply morally wrong, but legally wrong. As a wrongful death, the family of the deceased as able to file suit on his behalf, despite the fact that they did not personally experience the harm he suffered. This type lawsuit – a wrongful death action – is an important way to protect victims from dangerous drivers like Ms. Villanueva.

Has your loved one perished because of the negligence of another? Your family may have experienced a legal wrong, not simply a moral outrage. Teenager Victim of Driver’s Negligence

This weekend, members of the Aledo community, a North Texas suburb, will mourn the tragic death of 14-year-old Alex Christian. In the early hours of Thursday morning, Alex was riding as the passenger of an older friend’s pickup truck when high speed, a hilly road, and showman driving caused the driver to lose control. Leaving the road at high speed, the truck sailed through a fence and a row of mailboxes before rolling into a home.

Having come to rest, the homeowner heard Christian’s cries for help and watched horrified and helpless as the truck caught fire and burned the passenger trapped inside the cab. The driver was also killed in the accident, and two other teens were taken to nearby hospitals.

Fears | Nachawati understands how painful and tragic a teenager’s wrongful death can be. Family and friends are caught totally unaware, and often struggle for months and, in many cases, years with the loss of such a young, vibrant life. Have you lost a loved one in an automobile accident? You may be wise to seriously consider whether a wrongful death lawsuit is appropriate for you and your family. Driver and Passenger Killed in Single Car Collision

Two women died tragically yesterday when the car in which they were riding slammed into a telephone poll. Images of the accident suggest the force of the collision: the telephone poll split the front end of the car and debris from all parts of the vehicle was strewn in a wide arc around the totaled automobile. Although rescue workers customarily tear into a damaged car in an attempt to save the occupants, yesterday they merely draped a large cloth over the front seats. Both women died immediately as a result of the crash.

In the wake of catastrophic accidents such as this, families of passengers are often left facing important legal questions. What is a wrongful death lawsuit? Can the passenger’s next-of-kin file a lawsuit on behalf of the deceased? Is it worth it in my case?

Having handled personal injury, automobile accident, and wrongful death cases in the D/FW area for years, the attorneys at Fears | Nachawati know the emotional pain that your family is going through and the difficult questions you’re struggling to address.
