An accident at a Texas electricity generation plant Thursday morning left two workers injured.
The Marion Volunteer Fire Department and Schertz EMS were dispatched to the Public Service Enterprise Group’s power plant in Marion, Texas, at around 11 a.m. after a “high pressure accident.”
According to the plant’s manager, Peter Geissler, one of the plant’s generating units was shut down so that maintenance work could be performed. The generator was pressurized as part of the process of powering it back up.
At some point during this process, an access cover, which is essentially a small door, shot loose from the generator. It hit two of the plant’s workers, injuring them both. One of the workers was hit in the chest. The other suffered lacerations to his face. Both were taken to area hospitals conscious and able to move their limbs.
