Elderly Driver May Have Inadvertently Killed Teen on Highway

The risks associated with drunk and drowsy driving are well documented. The risks that America’s elderly drivers impose, however, are less frequently mentioned. Nevertheless, those risks remain significant, and today, a Fort Worth family is suffering in the wake of a negligent, older driver.

According to a preliminary investigation, on an otherwise quiet night earlier this week a 17-year-old from Lake Worth was driving along Highway 199 when a 72-year-old driving the wrong way down the highway appeared in his lane. The teen took evasive action, but it was too little, too late and the cars collided. Sadly, both drivers died at the scene – and as a result, the teen’s family is struggling to come to terms with what their next steps should be.
