Thirty people, including a police officer and several children, have died from injuries sustained in a giant pipeline explosion in central Mexico. The explosion occurred last month. Man dies in construction accident
One man has died as a result of a wall collapse at a sand plant in Wisconsin. The man, who is a Texan working out of state to support his family, was killed when the wall he was standing on collapsed. He died of compression injuries to his head and chest. Three other workers were injured in this tragedy.

Man dies from injuries sustained in oil field expolsion
A man who was severely burned in a West Texas oil field has died. Authorities say that the man, Abel Garcia, was engulfed by flames when leaking natural gas ignited. Garcia suffered severe burns over much of his body, and had been hospitalized since the explosion. The accident occurred at a well near Ackerly, about 45 miles northeast of Midland.

DPS trooper dies in Montague County wreck
A DPS trooper died in a wreck after his patrol car apparently hit a cow in the road. The accident occurred near Ringgold in Montague County, about 30 miles southeast of Wichita Falls. The trooper, Cpl. David Ralph Slaton, was on duty and traveling northbound on U.S. 81 when his car struck a cow. The force of the impact caused the car to veer into a southbound tractor-trailer rig. The tractor-trailer driver was not hurt.

Farmworker killed by bale of hay
A farmworker was killed when a large hay bale fell on him. The man was working in a pasture southwest of Mansfield, off of County Road 520. He was loading large round bales into a truck when one rolled off and hit him. Investigators say that a large round bale of hay weighs approximately 2,000 pounds.

Driver shot to death while working on limousine
A man was shot to death Thursday evening while making repairs to the limousine he drove for a living. The man, Brandon Nathan Campbell, 26, was working on the brakes of his vehicle in the 400 block of East Ramsey Avenue when a man drove up in a white compact car, got out of his car wielding a pistol, and shot Campbell. The shooter then fled the scene. Campbell died from his injuries.

Five injured in ammonia plant leak
Five people were hospitalized in intensive care after an ammonia plant leak at an Alabama chicken freezing plant earlier this week. Authorities report that at least 130 people sought treatment for respiratory problems after encountering a large vapor cloud. The plant, operated by Millard Refrigerated Services, is located on an industrial canal near Mobile Bay. Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the leak.

Texas workplace deaths up 3.6% from prior year
A recently released U.S. Department of Labor report determined that Texas workplace deaths were up 3.6% from the previous year. Transportation-related accidents traditionally account for most Texans who are killed on the job, and 163 of the 480 fatalities occurred in this manner. Another 93 Texans were killed at work due to assaults or in the course of violent and criminal acts. Nationwide, the rate of workplace fatalities was down 17 percent.
