Two Arlington-based flight instructors and one other person were killed when the single-engine plane they were riding in crashed in Hood County this week. The instructors worked for Skymates flight school in Arlington. The passenger was the brother of one of the instructors. A witness reported that the plane's engine sounded rough immediately before the small plane nosedived. The plane crashed in Tovar, a community about 45 miles southwest of the DFW Metroplex.

Worker killed in doughnut shop robbery

A doughnut shop worker was killed, and another worker was wounded, early Wednesday morning in an apparent robbery. The man, Carlos Martinez, 38, of Seagoville, was fatally shot in the store in Duncanville, in the 100 block of North Cedar Ridge Drive. Authorities say that an armed, masked man entered the establishment about 5am and demanded money. The man then opened fire, killing one worker and injuring another.

Fort Worth police officer critically injured during pursuit

A Fort Worth police officer was critically injured Thursday afternoon when his car crashed into a tree during a high-speed pursuit on I-30. The officer was chasing a motorcyclist who fled from a house in Mansfield where authorities suspected methamphetamine was being manufactured. The officer was alone in his car when the crash occurred. Two Rangers Ballpark workers hospitalized after incident

Two Rangers Ballpark workers were hospitalized after a thunderstorm created a microburst that caused damaging winds. The burst was strong enough to peel back the roof of an abandoned hotel. Nightclub worker killed in apparent robbery

A man was killed this weekend as he was returning home after working his job at a nightclub. Authorities say that the worker, Antonio Charles, the owner of the El Tormento Bar in Dallas, had the day's profits from the establishment on his person when he was assaulted. Pipelines in fatal natural gas explosion were not properly marked
