Spate of Serious Accidents Prompt TxDOT to Close Highway 67 in Dallas

The northbound lanes of Highway 67 near Camp Wisdom Road appear to be unsafe at any speed. Yesterday morning the Texas Department of Transportation closed the onramp completely after several accidents raised increasingly serious safety concerns.

The already short onramp, which has been further shortened as a result of construction on Highway 67, forced drivers to reach highway speeds in just 100 feet. For many cars and many drivers, that has been just too little distance to accelerate to a safe speed.

Understanding the road conditions – such as the dangers of Highway 67 – and weather conditions like high winds, rain, and darkness can be just as important to understanding the causes of your accident as the speed of the cars or the presence of distractions.
