Which Drivers Tend to Be Most Careless?

Academic research shows that not all drivers drive equally well. In fact, some groups of people tend to be considerably more dangerous than others.

On a list of the most careless or reckless drivers, young men are always at top. According to one study, Teen and senior drivers, men aged 16 to 19 are involved in 188 percent more crashes than the average driver. Although somewhat more careful than their masculine counterparts, teenage women aren’t much better, being involved in 134 percent more crashes than the average driver.

What does this mean if a teen driver was involved in your accident? While these empirical findings won’t prove liability in your particular case, they do suggest that it may be time to ask some challenging questions in order to determine whether the teen driver in your accident had both eyes on the road and both hands on the wheel. The academic research suggests that in too many cases, teen drivers don’t.
